My 2021 Positivity & Healthy Living-ish Gift Guide

This year, I’ve decided to mesh two things I love into one gift guide. Where intentional and useful gifts meet positivity and healthy living!

December 5, 2021

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always LOVED giving gifts and always HATED receiving them. It just awkward to me?? (Maybe I’m just weird hahaha!)

However, when it comes to finding a great gift for someone, I don’t like giving gifts just for the sake of giving gifts. I like giving gifts that are intentional and most of all, useful!

Why give something that will only take up space in a closet or add clutter, when you can give a helpful gift?

I’m not saying that all gifts are bad, but let’s just say that everyone has a random closet filled with items they’ve received that they have absolutely no use for … yes, even you.

So this year, I’ve decided to mesh two things I love into one gift guide. Where intentional and useful gifts meet positivity and healthy living:

Welcome to my 2021 Positivity & Healthy Living-ish Gift Guide

Since we’re all still scrambling for last minute Christmas gifts, let’s cut out the random filler sentences and get right to it.

(P.S. Click on the photos to shop the items!)

1.   A fun water bottle

There may not be any *official* science behind it, but fact (according to Mags) is that if you have a water bottle that you like, you will drink water from it more often.

Who else has a favourite cup or mug at home? You know, that one that you’ll reach for every time you want a drink or will wash when its dirty, even though you have a cupboard full of clean mugs? Yep – same goes for a water bottle!

The great thing is that you can find the perfect water bottle for everyone. From their favourite colours to their favourite brands. You can literally match any aesthetic! (Aesthetic water bottles are very important, ok?!?)

And don’t even get me started on the different types of water bottles. From shaker cups, to tumblers, to bottles with straws, glass bottle, stainless steel… anything is possible hahaha!

Don’t know where to start when it comes to finding the perfect water bottle? Think of their hobbies, an inside joke, their pet, their passions, or as simple as their favourite colour… or if all hope seems lost, search “cool water bottle” on Amazon.

2.   A silk pillowcase (are we surprised??)

Make their sleep extra luxurious by getting them a silk pillowcase. I’m kidding, but aside from silk pillowcases being great for hair, skin, and rest, they just feel so luxurious.

When it comes to buying a silk pillowcase, don’t let Sephora persuade you into thinking that Slip pillowcases are the only way to go. Yes, Slip pillowcases are beautiful and soft as a dream, but there are so many other great (and much more affordable) brands out there.

They also come in all sizes and colours, so you can always make sure to match their bedding! (Or just go with white or black)

3.   Massage Gun

I received a massage gun for Christmas last year and it has been a game changer. As someone who has back problems and who hates being sore, I think a massage gun is an amazing invention.

PSA: this isn’t just a gift for gym rats. We could all use a massage gun in our lives. If you’re on your feet all day, chances are your feet are sore at the end of the day. If you work a desk job, back pain is definitely on your list of daily complaints.

Want to help someone on your Christmas list relax? Get them a massage gun.

4.   A subscription to a meal delivery service

Hear me out – yes this may sound a little weird, but this is a gift that I would personally LOVE!

Who wouldn’t love receiving a gift that makes their life a little bit easier?

There are tons of meal delivery services out there, most of which even cater to specific diets. Here are a few that I can think of off the top of my head: Hello Fresh, Good Food, Chef’s Plate, Inspired Go, Green Chef, etc. (these are companies mainly available in Canada, check your local area for which ones are available to you)

Lots of people are curious about trying out a meal delivery service, but don’t actually take the plunge – so this is the perfect way to introduce them to it!

This is also a great way for them to try out new recipes and even maybe new foods.

5.   Coffee & Hot Chocolate *but make it healthy*

Teas, coffees, hot cocaos – your go-to holiday gift. They make for perfect stocking stuffers, add-ons, or even gifts for those people that are impossible to shop for.

I love taking those types of gifts and finding the healthier alternatives.

The first brand that came to mind was Four Sigmatic, they make tons of different coffees from various types of mushrooms. They also now make hot cocoas and other hot drinks.

I suggest giving their Instant Mushroom Coffee with Chaga and Cordyceps a try and their Mushroom Hot Cocao Mix with Reishi.

Blume is another brand that carries many unique drink mixes that can be made into different types of hot drinks. (Want something funky? Try their Beetroot LatteMix)

6.   Healthy cook books with simple meals

Make their lives easier once again by giving them the gift of healthy, simple meal inspo.

We are all looking for ways to make our evening dinners healthier and faster. However, often times, we are too lazy to do our own research (let’s be honest here) or go out of our way to buy a good cook book – which is why they are the perfect gift!

Here are a few healthy cook books that have recently been recommended to me:

7.   Books!

Specifically motivational and self-development books. I love these types of books because they honestly really motivate me and make me want to do the inner work to become the best version of myself!

Now although books are really good for your brain, as we get older, unless our job directly involves us reading books (let’s get real, most of our jobs don’t), we rarely think to pick up a book.

Most of the reading that we do these days is text messages and emails.

So let’s bring the books back!

Want to give a self-development book to someone but worried that they may feel some type of way? Say this “I read this booked and really loved it, I think you would love it too!”

Here are a few that I love and recommend:

8.   The Five-Minute Journal

The Five-Minute Journal is the perfect way to introduce someone to gratitude and journaling. Know someone who lives a busy life but would love a quick journal?

This journal is all laid out for you, all you have to do is fill in the blanks. It makes it super simple to do and finish! This journal focuses mainly on gratitude and self-growth.

Every page starts off with a quote, then you finish a few prompts on the page. There is a section to complete in the morning and one to complete in the evening.

I received one of these as a gift a few years ago and you’d be surprised at how a little bit of reflecting can really boost your day!

9.   lululemon Belt Bag (are we surprised, again??)

I will quote a previous blog post because it sums my love for belt bags up so well:

“Shopping? No problem, you have two hands. Dog park? Treats, poopy bags are secure and you can still play with your dog. Night out with your friends? Never worry about losing your phone or wallet if they are in a bag that is wrapped around your body! Not to mention the fact that it now comes in SO MANY colours… I keep having to stop myself from buying more….”

10.   Saje Pocket Pharmacy

I received one of these as a Christmas gift last year and I didn’t realize just how useful it would be to me. This year they’ve come out with various different pocket pharmacies, but essentially it a little pouch of roll-on essential oils.

This is a great way to introduce someone to essential oils

Since they are roll-on, you don’t need a diffuser!

Every little pocket pharmacy comes with a lovely zipper pouch to store all of the oils, as well as a little booklet filled with explanations on exactly how to use which oil (you’d be surprised at all the different ways to roll-on essential oils!)
